Warm days, fields (and poo!) rapidly going green, coat being shed like mad, and ATTITUDE! The sooner his field dries up so they can be out 24/7 the better.
The last two days he's been bolshy, mouthy, and front legs striking out. Why walk when you can do a strutty trot? His field mate is suddenly not the boss and he's spending a lot of time grazing the fenceline next to themares and keeping his friend away from them.
To handle he's pushing his luck and chancing the odd nip if he thinks I'm not paying attention. To ride he's napping leaving the yard and the first bit of the lane then when he gives in he's forward almost to a fault and argumentative if that movement is interrupted.
He was a horror for the sheath cleaner today and normally he thinks that's a wonderful way to spend some time. He knocked her over - heknew what he was doing, and then was shoving her around. Bribes had no impact, he can keep the front end still while still moving his quarters. Holding up a front produced rearing, a twitch produced a threat to kick that I warned her to take seriously and he nearly got her with a front taking it off. I'vee said it before, but he really is a battering ram of a horse when he doesn't choose to play nicely and I can see at times why he had a bad name.
If his mindset doesn't improve I'm seriously considering a couple of ml of Sedalin for the farrier next week!
On a better note I saw bees and butterflies out today! I know some colder weather is foreecast again but today was glorious.
